About our
history

Adelaide Thunder FC is a grassroots soccer club, registered with Football SA, that was established in 2010 out of a growing need for affordable soccer for the community. Previously known as SA Centrals Soccer Club, the committee decided to undergo a change of names in 2017, to Adelaide Thunder FC.

The club had very humble beginnings, training out of SAWSA Park in the city whilst playing games at the Cowandilla Primary School. Since then, the club has undergone a gradual yet positive growth in its player base, vision and mission, coaching staff and more. Starting off with only a handful of junior teams, we now have teams across all junior age groups for boys with a plan to begin female soccer in the near future.

We believe that our club reflects the spirit of the world game as we boast a diverse player base spanning over 30 different nationalities, all proudly calling Adelaide Thunder home. Many of our original junior players have gone off to play elite football in South Australia and it has been a privilege for these players to have had started their career at our club. Furthermore, many young adults from a range of migrant backgrounds have had the opportunity to display their leadership by volunteering through the club, either by coaching or sitting on the committee.
